Four windows dealt with, three to go...

Image
Busy weekend, new window installed, and two out of the three walls insulated so far, one to do tomorrow.  Window installed, yippie, but can't get the flash to work without putting in the insulation.  See, thems Jack Studs to keep the window from sagging from the weight above it.  FInally some flash.  Jack Studs above the window....  And Saturday night when I could take a pic and get some flash.  Yes, that is a corn cob used to seal up the gap between the siding on the porch and the floor of the porch, I installed 2x4s along there to seal those gaps.  And with the 2x4s it made an even better surface for the insulation, the big pink spot is the former window. And this is as far as I've gotten on the bedroom today, one more wall to go, and then I can start using sealant to seal the edges of the insulation.

Today was a messy demo day...

Don't you hate it when you need to pry something and when you do dirt falls down from above, yeah, icky. Window removal day was today, took out the window, and didn't look like there was much wood that needed replacing, and the studs looked close to level, we will see once I get the new framing in there and dry fit the window. This is how I'm going to cover up the cement board I used to cover the hole of the window I took out, the screen is a little taller, better than too short, so I'll cut it down and re-assemble to bottom of the screen.  This is what it looks like without the screen.  I tried breaking up the focal point with a 2" line across the middle, it doesn't show up very well in the pic. Above is the back side of the window I removed, just need to insulate, then cover it up like it was never there.  Top of the window that's actually being replaced, that 2x4 isn't as bad as it looks, so it stays.  As with the other windo

A room is so much bigger when you get the floor installed.

Progress is a coming, the bedroom is a little bigger than I initially thought it was, hey two feet wider, works for me. But once I got the doorway opened up, wow, it's a different room all together.  From this to....  Hey, lookie, subflooring  After that the first thing to go was the wallpaper  but then it made it kind of dark in there... But then after opening up that doorway and continuing to get those boards off the walls, should be finished doing that tomorrow.

Got so much done today....

First, bought the new toilet, an American Standard, it was $150, I had a coupon so it kept the cost down. Then waited out some of the rain, had a snack, then took a trailer full of garbage to the dumpster. THen since it was raining, time to work on the floor joists for the bedroom. they are in place, but before I do the final install on the joist hangers I need to get subflooring down to adjust them to make them even with the edges.  Then take the subfloor back out, and insulate... Woo Hoo! getting stuff done, even in the poring rain.
