Chest O' Drawers project...

Image
I don't drag home everything like I used to when it comes to furniture, especially since I'm not doing the yardsale thing anymore... Started with this.... Missing a drawer, and that pencil sharpener will go somewhere else. Here's after the first cuts.... And here is it with all the drawers put back and the top attached by hinges in the back. Since it will back against a wall I don't think it needs a chain to keep the lid from going back to far, just need to buy four casters to wheel it around and it's perfect, oh and oil it, should help that piece I salvaged from the back to put above the top drawer pop and not look so dull.

It's a new day for a new shelf, an I'm feeling good....

After a few days of thinking of how I wanted to finish it, I went with the simple, mineral oil, really seemed to bring out the Oak in the wood. Look at all that green can't tell it's been maybe a month since it barely rained Yup, that's oak, even though it's former pallat wood, it's still strong enough to be a shelf. And there it is installed on the wall.

As I await parts, I made cat scratchers

Well as I await the open road, parts to finish the drivetrain, and wait for people to show up to buy stuff, a friend wondered if I could do some woodworking before I left, I haz skillz. Had to borrow the cat scratcher to size it right, but I had these two drawers that would have ended up in the trash anyway, I snagged them a while ago since they had glass knobs on them(sold the knobs at a yardsale a while back). Cut the drawers down to the right thickness for the cardboard insert, cut the end off to make it shorter, then the top piece to keep the cardboard from coming out as the cat gets it's scratch on... I think they would look good wasabi green(I have leftover paint to get rid of). But I'll deliver them after some sanding of the sharp edges. Client smartly asked me to make two, paid for one upfront, and if they likey I'll get another $10 for the second one.  Not too bad for free drawers I snagged just because of what was attached and would have left them for the ...
