Little progress bits at a time..

Image
It's a rainy day today, hope it's dry tomorrow, I've got stuff to do.  This is the long "A" frame beam, I used some of the leftover joists that I had to cut parts out of them, and then replace.  Here's the short one, see that little blue box, that's going to get covered up and the lights will hang from the cross beams.  Here's the closet wall, that was some gas pipe that was under the house, I painted it and was able attach it on the ends, so it should hold the clothes, I'll put the chest o' drawers in the middle, and shelves on either side of that. Then put four more of those shelf hanger things, two on each side of the dresser, and a shelf to either side for my manly closet.  I've got more pipe to use, just need a dry moment to cut an paint.  See that lid open there, that's my solid bike box, and another bike is going to be put back together, not that I don't like riding the Bullhound, but I like my fixie too.

There's a reason no one tells the tale of the Rampaging Stampede of Sheep....

Image
Mainly it's because the sheep seem to be scared of the grass let alone their own shadows... So as I was getting ready to install the last window and then I'm done with windows, the sheep came down the road, ate in my yard, the neighbor's, and the empty lot down further, never stopping for more than a few minutes...

Screws came an I finished the wall

Now it's Congress' turn to finish the wall... But here it is, the bed side wall of the bedroom, all finished, and ready for some mortar for the holes an some cracks. Tomorrow is another nail pulling day, and I should probably take out the last window that needs replacing, so I'm ready to tackle that on saturday. Then it's insulation in the walls, can't wait to get the ceiling in the great room insulated, but I've got some wiring to get done for the lights, then the house should stay pretty warm.  Currently the vents on the soffets keep the place aired out, but also loses heat....

One window to go!

Woot, super busy productive weekend, finished the front window and then finished one on the left side of the house, leaving one window left to replace. The front window was a toughy, as the stud in the wall wasn't plumb, so had to slowly pull the siding off so I could cut the nails and move the wall stud over on the bottom to make it plumb. The left side of the house window was actually good to go, so just had to install framing for the window to be screwed into. Weather is a bit tricky as it was bright and sunny last afternoon and it went from that to thunder, lightening and a down pore, still raining today.  Hoping it's dry this weekend..... Pics.  This is where I was on Saturday night. Sorry for the fog, the lens was a bit foggy before I noticed it.  ANd this is where I was on sunday night, can't get the flash to work on the camera sometimes so I have to take a pic at night.  This is the front window. And this is the left side window....

It's taking a while, but getting there....

I finished the closet side wall, and while I wait for more screws to show up so I can finish the other side of the room, I'll count out the boards I need, set them aside, clean up and move in.  This is the side for the bed, waiting on finish screws.  This is Saturday.  This is as far as I got on Sunday. AND here is the 'finished', well as finished as it's going to be for a while, I'm thinking of putting mortar on it to fill in the holes.

Look at mah Wood...hope that double entendre isn't too much for everyone...

But the long wall with the window is finished, yeah team me. Sadly though I need to demo the 5" wood from the left wall of the big room to use on the closet wall of the bedroom. And that will save the big 8" boards for great room, and places people can see. Sad news when demo-ing the wall where the second front door went into the front room, I need to take off all of the siding and reinstall it. Was hoping I could avoid that, but not a sausage to be found.

Sometimes you need to do laundry, and only get to finish the side of the window.

Going slow, but at least it's going.... Last thing I did was put in that rough in for the electrical outlet, never a good idea to put the outlet under the window sill. Oh an that'll be the view out my bedroom window...woot!

The hard job of putting insulation in the attic is done...

Now I can get back to the fun job of reinstalling the shiplap back onto the walls, nice tight joints that's what I want to see, hope I have enough wood, it should, but until you are on that last board you never know...  Ah, rustic.  And rustic on the other side. Can't really see the spreader clamp pushing the small board up, but look real close. This pic shows how I'm using the clamps to push the wood tightly up, should finish that side of the window tomorrow after laundry day.
